Job Summary
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments depending on the line of business and type of truck. They transport material to disposal, transfer or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers provide pick‑up service for containers filled with waste or recyclable material that may weigh over 1,000 pounds and require maneuvering to a pick‑up stage area.
They navigate high‑traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential. Residential Drivers collect residential household waste or recyclable material and safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments. Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating driveways, alleyways, lots, and high‑traffic roadways and possibly tight overhead environments on industrial routes.
Backing maneuvers are essential.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements and all local, state and federal laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Immediately report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings and meetings as required.
- Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Operations Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage.
- Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, closed or impassable streets or alleyways, heavy receptacles or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
- Perform all duties as scheduled and assist other drivers to meet customer needs.
A. Required Qualifications
- 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Able to read, write and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions and complete records or reports.
- Successfully complete pre‑employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air‑brake endorsement or Class B with an air‑brake endorsement.
B. Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
Base pay: The expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $32.37 per hour. The specific salary offered may be influenced by experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications and location.
