Special Education Teacher w/ Multi‑Sensory Reading Program Certification(s)
Date Available: Permanent position commencing with the 2023‑2024 school year. Official start date will be August 29, 2023.
Salary & Benefits: In accordance with the Joel Barlow Education Association’s collective bargaining unit agreement. Competitive benefits.
Daily from 7:30 am to 11:30 am
Qualifications- CT teaching certification in Special Education K‑12.
- Certification in Multi‑Sensory Reading Programs such as Wilson or Orton‑Gillingham.
- Prior experience working with students with special needs, including dyslexia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility, creativity, and strong organization skills.
- Highly motivated and self‑directed.
- Work collaboratively with individual student teams.
- Provide Case Manager services, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; liaison with general education teachers; communication with home; run Team meetings.
- Attend PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and present up‑to‑date information on progress toward goals and objectives.
- Conduct and present educational testing results, using this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives.
- Collect and manage data pertaining to various student goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all class accommodations are being implemented in the appropriate settings.
- Participate in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school‑wide faculty.
- Provide consultative services in general education classes; adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approaches; serve as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with students with dyslexia.
