Hours:
Monday-Friday when school is in session for students. Specific hours as warranted by school and agreed upon through hiring process. Salary and Benefits:
In accordance with the Redding para educator collective bargaining agreement. Comprehensive benefits. Salary range: $18.22/hour to $20.51/hour.
Responsibilities:
Assist kindergarten teacher with classroom needs, working with young children Assist with organization of classroom materials and supplies Assist with preparing instructional materials for student activities Work with young children in small groups Respect the confidentiality of student information and not discuss them outside of the classroom Organize and handout papers, crafts that go home with the students Refer all parent concerns and questions about any student's progress to the teacher Escort students from classroom to other classes such as Physical Education, Music, Art, Library
Qualifications:
Two years of college credit; or hold an associate's (or higher) degree; or pass a State Board of Education adopted paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of those topics (In Connecticut, the Para Pro is the recognized assessment) Previous experience working in a school setting a plus Ability to communicate and interact with young children in a positive manner, with sensitivity to their needs Good organizational skills Flexibility and a sense of humor
