Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

  • £16.62 per hour PAYE
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to join a repairs and maintenance team working across council-owned residential properties in Redditch. The successful candidate will carry out a variety of 1st and 2nd fix carpentry works in both occupied and void properties, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety requirements.

A work vehicle will be provided for business use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out 1st and 2nd fix carpentry repairs and installations within council properties.
  • Hang and adjust internal and external doors.
  • Install and repair door frames, architraves and skirting boards.
  • Fit kitchens, worktops, cupboards and other timber fixtures.
  • Complete timber repairs to floors, walls, roofs and staircases where required.
  • Construct and repair timber stud walls and other structural carpentry.
  • Repair or replace locks, hinges, handles and other door furniture.
  • Work efficiently in both occupied and void properties while maintaining a professional approach.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
  • Complete relevant job records and paperwork as required.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Carpenter carrying out both 1st and 2nd fix carpentry.
  • Experience working within domestic property maintenance, social housing or local authority environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety practices.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working on responsive repairs and maintenance contracts.
  • Experience working within occupied and void residential properties.
  • Relevant NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent).
  • Experience working for a local authority, housing association or social housing contractor.
