Mechanical Engineer
Immediate need for a talented Mechanical Engineer. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Detroit, MI (Onsite).
Job
-22383 Pay Range: $45 - $50/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
- Provide daily maintenance engineering support for engine, axle, and transmission assembly lines.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment failures and support skilled trades in resolving production issues.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to identify spare parts and maintenance requirements.
- Design, develop, and implement tooling and assembly process improvements to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support procurement, installation, commissioning, and certification of manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with equipment validation, including torque tools, leak testers, gauges, and fastening systems.
- Work closely with production supervisors and operators to ensure adherence to manufacturing processes and production targets.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to assemblers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
- Support weekend production coverage and respond to equipment breakdowns when required.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience within an assembly or production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting manufacturing equipment on the production floor.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, automation equipment, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software
- Shift: 11PM-7AM or 3PM-11PM EST
