After school Teacher
The After school Teacher executes the daily curriculum and insures the safety and nurture of the children in their care. Works to provide direction for children and implements program curriculum. Additionally provides a quality experience for children and parents. Focus on building achievement and relationships among youth and families.
Required Qualifications:
- ECE/CD Units: 12 semester units in ECE or CD, 6 units can be substituted for recreation, arts & humanities, human services
- CPR/First Aide Certified (or obtained within 30 days of employment)
- Proof of Immunizations: TB, Influenza (limited exceptions), pertussis, and measles vaccination
Desired
Skills:
- 1 year childcare/group experience working with Youth, preferably in after school setting
Essential Functions:
- Insure safety of children enrolled in program
- Assist with the preparation of curriculum and daily schedule for program including but not limited to academics, enrichments and recreation
- Assist with supervision of children to provide safety within ratios
- Maintain ongoing communication as well as positive relationships with children, parents, staff, community members and organizations
- Carry out effective behavior management techniques in accordance with the YMCA behavior management policies and procedures
- Maintain a professional manner and positive attitude at all times
- Any other duties related to the operation of the classroom as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Driving Responsibilities:
- Occasionally driving to another site to insure teacher to child ratio is maintained
