Inclusion And Community Coordinator
The University of Redlands is in search of an Inclusion and Community Coordinator. Reporting to the Dean of Students and Belonging, the Coordinator will lead the Office of Inclusion and Community (OIC) to advance a community culture of belonging, and education. The Coordinator will assist and support campus wide initiatives and programs in serving and preparing the University's first generation, high need, and underrepresented student populations.
In collaboration with campus partners, the Coordinator will play a part in supporting student academic success, belonging, and career readiness.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the execution of inclusive programming to advance community belonging, education, training, celebration and dialogue across difference, and constructive student engagement.
- Expand utilization and welcoming atmosphere of OIC Centers (Multicultural Center, The Bridge, Pride Center, and Center for Gender Justice).
- Establish inclusive OIC Centers calendar of cultural, identity, and heritage celebrations, and support coordination of OIC led or supported signature events and programs.
- Partner with student diversity led clubs and organizations, Student Campus Life, all Student Affairs departments, and campus partners to establish one student-centered programming and educational opportunities (e.g. workshops) calendar, integrating OIC Center signature events and programs, track, and assess student engagement.
- Aid in coordinating the pre-orientation Summer Bridge program(s) to assist with transition to college.
- Support the Assistant Director in implementation of the Students Together Empowering Peers (STEP) mentors and mentees to ensure the program meets and fulfills its mission and key performance indicators to provide resources and support for, first generation college students in order to ease their transition into higher education, retention, and academic progress.
- Partner with Student Success Center on initiatives and programs (e.g. study hall jam, embedded tutoring in Multicultural Center) and connection pathways to other resources.
- Assist the Assistant Director and interns with organizing I'm Going to College (IGTC) which is a group tour designed to introduce K-8 students (elementary and middle school) to the benefits of a college education.
- Assist with coordinating affinity group graduation recognition ceremonies.
- Establish partnerships and programming to encourage academic success, career preparedness, and wellbeing.
- Serves as a resource for students, faculty, and staff on issues related to belonging, community, and identity.
- Partner with Residence Life and Housing in supporting a Bridge/Step living learning community.
- Regularly attend the Student Diversity-Led club and organization meetings, providing advising, mentorship, leadership development, training, programming support, and celebrating student community impact.
- Serve as the OIC Centers liaison in advancing campus civic engagement and student voter initiatives and programs in partnership with Student Campus Life, students, staff, and faculty, including serving as the institutional AAUW OIC liaison partner.
- Assist in expanding campus departmental, and external partnerships with local and regional resources (e.g. Inland Counties Legal Services LGBTQ+ Services Program) to expand student support resources, programming, and community education.
- Coordinate and/or support conflict management and/or mediation between students, clubs or organizations to repair harm to individuals and/or community and build bridges to foster community inclusion across difference, and community education.
- Provide divisional support in identifying, understanding, monitoring, and assisting with problem-solving in relation to student and/or community issues and trends as needed.
- Assist with developing and implementing marketing and communication campaigns, and efforts to include web content programmatic messaging, family, and supporter liaison, etc. to promote OIC initiatives, events, and programs as directed.
- Assist in the tracking, collection and analysis of data related to student engagement, Summer Bridge, STEP, and OIC initiatives at the University of Redlands and use that data to make appropriate campus referrals, and inform future programming and student success retention, and intervention strategies.
- Oversees event planning and management to include budget projections and oversite, vendor and contractor coordination, event scheduling and associated logistics, liaise and coordinate with the information technology, and events and conferences team, as needed.
- Partner with Student Campus Life and Residence Life and Housing to bolster late night and weekend programming.
- Manage student records consistent with the Family Rights and Privacy Act and serve as a Responsible Employee. Maintain a presence and serve as a resource to students.
