Definition of Classification:

The Graduate Assistant, Campus Engagement & Intramural Programs supports the mission of the Office of Student Campus Life by creating meaningful opportunities for student involvement, leadership development, recreation, and belonging. Reporting to the Manager of Student Campus Life Activities, this position assists in the planning, implementation, assessment, and day-to-day operations of campus engagement initiatives, with primary responsibility for intramural sports, support for recognized student clubs and organizations, student engagement technology, and commuter student engagement.

The Graduate Assistant serves as a key student leader within Student Campus Life, collaborating with campus partners, student organizations, and student employees to create inclusive, engaging, and educational co-curricular experiences that contribute to student success and a vibrant campus community. This position requires flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays to support student programming and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Manager of Student Life Activities, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Intramural Programming
  • Manage the IMLeagues platform, including registrations, scheduling, communications, and league administration.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student officials and scorekeepers.
  • Plan and implement intramural leagues, tournaments, and special recreational events.
  • Coordinate facility reservations and equipment needs for intramural activities.
  • Promote participation through marketing, outreach, and campus engagement initiatives.
  • Evaluate participation trends and recommend improvements to increase student engagement.
Clubs & Organizations
  • Assist student leaders with organization processes including registration, event planning, risk management, and leadership development.
  • Provide administrative support for club trainings, workshops, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and execution of involvement fairs, leadership programs, and other Student Campus Life signature events.
  • Support club advisors and student leaders by connecting them with appropriate campus resources.
Student Engagement Portal
  • Assist with administration of the Student Engagement Portal (Start@Redlands), including organization registration, event submissions, and content management.
  • Review and process event requests within established Student Campus Life procedures.
  • Maintain the Student Campus Life calendar to ensure accurate and timely communication of student programs and events.
  • Support data collection, assessment, and reporting using engagement platform analytics.
  • Supervise and support Student Commuter Lounge Ambassadors, including coordinating schedules, providing task direction during shifts, and serving as a peer leader who reinforces professionalism, customer service, and departmental expectations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing commuter-focused programs, initiatives, and community building activities in collaboration with Student Campus Life staff.
General Student Engagement
  • Collaborate with campus departments to promote student engagement and co-curricular learning.
  • Support assessment efforts by collecting participation data and preparing reports that inform program improvement.
  • Represent Student Campus Life at university events, committee meetings, and outreach opportunities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
