Environmental Health and Safety Manager – Teledyne Battery Products, Redlands, CA.

Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and corporate policies.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local government requirements concerning environmental compliance and employee health and safety in accordance with federal OSHA, Cal-OSHA, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), etc.
  • Act as primary point of contact and liaison with all regulatory agencies including the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, SCAQMD, EPA, DOT, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, DTSC, etc.
  • Implement site‑level EH&S programs, policies, and procedures and maintain associated documents.
  • Manage EH&S duties such as documenting and maintaining applicable records required by permits, conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), risk assessments, and employee training.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor environmental impacts of operations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with the corporate EH&S Team to ensure compliance and conformance with corporate EH&S policies, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS), and to enhance EH&S culture and awareness.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of EH&S regulations, management systems, regulatory agencies, trends, and resources.
  • Have intermediate knowledge of SCAQMD rules and recordkeeping, including associated reporting and documentation.
  • Have a strong sense of Cal‑OSHA General Industry rules and regulations, including Injury and Illness Prevention Planning (IIPP), occupational lead, and respiratory protection.
  • Maintain injury and illness record‑keeping documents (e.g., Cal‑OSHA 300 Logs).
  • Be familiar with completing and updating business plans and chemical inventory within the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS).
  • Understand California’s Tiered Permitting program for hazardous waste treatment units under Permit‑by‑Rule.
  • Know industrial wastewater permit compliance and the generation of Industrial User Self‑Monitoring reports.
  • Implement stormwater pollution prevention planning (SWPPP) and reporting.
  • Have industrial hygiene concepts expertise and the ability to interpret occupational exposure monitoring reports in accordance with applicable Cal‑OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Prove ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Be detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Work independently and collaborate with different departments.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Possess proficiency in Microsoft applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and MS SharePoint.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to prepare analytical results, charts, and graphs.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SCAQMD and Cal‑OSHA lead standards.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems (EMS/HSMS).
  • Certifications highly preferred include California Hazardous Waste Generator – Title 22 or Department of Transportation  Hazardous Materials Shipper.

Salary Range: $96,200.00–$
