Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a multidisciplinary cultural resource consulting firm, is seeking on-call Crew Technicians based in or near Redlands and throughout Southern California to join our growing field team. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on archaeological experience while working on a variety of projects across Southern California and the surrounding region. Assignments may include archaeological survey, monitoring, testing, and data recovery across diverse landscapes and project types.
SRI provides comprehensive cultural resource management (CRM) services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels throughout the western United States, with offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, and Washington.
Position Overview:As a Crew Technician, reporting to the Project Director and Crew Lead, you will support archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, and other field activities. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated, attentive to fine details, well organized, and have solid interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery
- Recording artifacts, features, collection units, and other observations using GPS, Field Maps, Survey
123, or similar field data-collection tools - Completing field forms accurately and concisely
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to survey up to 10 hours a day in rugged terrain under a variety of weather conditions
Minimum Qualifications and
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field
- Minimum of 6 months of archaeological field experience; survey, monitoring, testing, and/or data recovery experience preferred
- Ability to travel to project locations throughout Southern California and perform physically demanding fieldwork in rugged terrain and varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and take on new tasks
- Completion of an archaeological field school preferred
Compensation:This is a non-exempt, hourly position paid at $21 - $26 per hour depending upon experience. Overtime is paid in accordance with California law.
- Daily food allowance, when applicable based on the project, will be offered (no receipts required)
- Single-occupancy hotel accommodations will be provided.
- Eligible to accrue PTO hours.
