We are looking for a Senior Biologist/Regulatory Specialist to support and lead biological resources projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This role focuses on managing complex projects, supporting regulatory compliance efforts, and guiding staff through project execution. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, clients, and agencies to deliver high-quality environmental consulting services.
Responsibilities- Manage or oversee moderately complex, multi-disciplinary projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Prepare permit applications and regulatory documents.
- Review and provide input on prepared applications and technical documents.
- Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, and proposals.
- Develop and manage project schedules.
- Attend and facilitate project, client, and agency meetings.
- Interact with regulatory agency staff to support permitting and compliance efforts.
- Assist clients with permit compliance and project implementation.
- Conduct or manage field surveys, including biological and habitat assessments, as needed.
- Support and mentor assistant, associate, and staff-level biologists.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, ecology, or related field with 7–10 years of experience, or a graduate degree with 5–7 years of experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, including project and task management.
- Extensive knowledge of biological resources, including sensitive and common species.
- Knowledge of California habitats, species, and general conservation biology/ecology.
- Experience working with regulatory processes and agency staff.
- Understanding of key regulations, including Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, Porter‑Cologne Water Quality Control Act, CDFW Fish and Game Code Section 1602, California ESA Section 2081, and ESA Sections 7 and 10.
- Experience with wetland delineations and/or local flora and fauna field surveys.
- USFWS/CDFW permits or Memoranda of Understanding are a plus.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Our base full‑time annual salary range is $91,000 to $130,000. Starting salary is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.
