SummaryThe Fleet Operations Manager coordinates and manages daily dispatch operations, route planning, and driver supervision to ensure timely and efficient service delivery. This hands‑on leadership role oversees fleet utilization, driver performance, safety compliance, and administrative functions including payroll management and scheduling. The Manager serves as a key operational leader, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company standards while optimizing routes to maximize efficiency and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesFleet Operations
- Coordinate and manage daily dispatch operations to ensure timely and efficient service delivery across all routes
- Plan, optimize, and oversee routes to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
- Manage and supervise drivers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, company standards, and DOT regulations
- Track and evaluate driver performance, conduct regular assessments, and provide coaching and feedback to improve capabilities
- Measure and monitor driver and asset utilization to ensure we are fully utilizing our fleet to capacity and optimizing resource allocation
- Coordinate vehicle assignments, load planning, and delivery schedules to meet operational demands
- Respond to operational issues, delays, or service disruptions and implement corrective actions quickly
- Process and manage driver payroll, including hours tracking, overtime, and compensation accuracy to ensure timely and correct payment
- Create and maintain driver schedules, manage time‑off requests, and ensure adequate coverage across all shifts and routes
- Maintain accurate records of routes, driver hours, vehicle logs, fuel consumption, and incident reports
- Ensure all drivers maintain proper licensing (CDL where required) and meet regulatory requirements including medical certifications and background checks
- Manage driver onboarding, orientation, and training programs to ensure compliance and operational readiness
- Process and maintain documentation for DOT compliance including driver qualification files, hours of service records, and vehicle inspection reports
- Promote and enforce safety standards, conduct regular safety meetings, and implement corrective actions to address unsafe behaviors or conditions
- Investigate incidents and accidents, document findings, complete required reporting, and implement preventive measures to reduce future occurrences
- Monitor vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules, and coordinate necessary repairs to ensure fleet reliability and safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other regulatory requirements related to fleet operations
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection audits to verify driver compliance with safety procedures
- Address service‑related concerns and customer complaints to maintain high satisfaction levels and service quality
- Implement quality control measures to ensure on‑time performance, delivery accuracy, and professional service standards
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including on‑time delivery, fuel efficiency, safety metrics, and driver productivity
