The Role:

The Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations.
This includes financial reporting, Work-in-Progress (WIP) tracking, job costing, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and maintaining robust internal controls.
Controller Duties:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger maintenance.
- Prepare accurate, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and manage the Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, ensuring precise revenue recognition, over/under billing calculations, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring account reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage cash flow monitoring and daily operational cash requirements
- Ensure proper coding and allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Assist project teams with cash flow forecasting at the job level to optimize project margins.
- Develop, implement, and enforce strong internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures to support scaling operations.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, licensing, and financial regulations.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.- Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for background in heavy civil or general construction accounting. - Technical Expertise:
Deep knowledge of construction accounting fundamentals, including WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and certified payroll. - Software:
Experience with construction-specific ERP software (e.g., Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, or similar) is required. - Skills:
Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, excellent analytical abilities, and clear communication skills. - Standards:
Advanced understanding of GAAP standards as applied to the construction industry.
