Position: Middle School Mathematics Teacher (Grades 6-8)

About the role:

We’re looking for a motivated, engaged math teacher to deliver high-quality instruction for students in grades 6–8. This role centers on a problem-solving-based approach to mathematical growth — covering ratios, proportions, percents, integers, linear equations, graphing, geometry, and statistics. The ideal candidate will build a classroom culture rooted in mathematical reasoning and critical thinking, setting students up for success in high school math and beyond.

What you’ll do:

Instruction and Curriculum
  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in 7th and 8th-grade mathematics
  • Implement Amplify math units that integrate real-world problem-solving and inquiry-based learning
  • Use data-driven strategies to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including those needing intervention and those ready for acceleration
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and provide timely, actionable feedback
Culture and Collaboration
  • Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking and a growth mindset
  • Maintain regular contact with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and academic expectations
  • Participate in grade-level planning and interdisciplinary projects
  • Contribute to math curriculum team meetings and school-wide initiatives
What we’re looking for:
  • Interest and commitment to RPA’s core values of proficiency and personalization
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the charter school model and the autonomy it provides to innovate in curriculum, culture, and student support.
  • Experience with or enthusiasm for problem-based and inquiry-driven math instruction
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous professional growth
Requirements
  • Oregon Teaching License with a Middle Level Mathematics or Advanced Mathematics endorsement preferred
  • Candidates eligible to obtain charter school licensure will also be considered
