Area Director of Sales – Bend/Redmond, OR

An Area Director of Sales oversees the commercial and marketing strategies for a portfolio of hotels rather than a single property.
They lead on-property sales teams, maximize revenue (RevPAR and ADR), manage budgets, and align group and transient booking strategies with overall ownership goals.

A comprehensive breakdown of this multi-property leadership role includes the following core components:

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Portfolio Leadership:
    Develop and execute multi-year commercial strategies, annual Sales & Marketing plans, and expense budgets across assigned hotels.
  • Revenue Optimization:
    Collaborate with revenue management teams to optimize occupancy, forecast market demand, and balance high-rated leisure patterns with corporate and group business.
  • Brand & Market Positioning:
    Drive proactive business development, oversee public relations and digital marketing initiatives, and elevate the hotels’ visibility within the competitive set.
  • Account Management:
    Oversee corporate RFP (Request for Proposal) strategies and manage key accounts to secure lucrative group, convention, and leisure business.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience:

    Typically requires 5 to 7+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership, with significant experience in multi-property/cluster oversight and upper-upscale or luxury markets.
  • Financial Acumen:
    Strong capability in budgetary analysis, forecasting, data modeling, and mathematical calculations necessary to drive profitability.
  • Sales Prowess:
    Proven track record in direct selling, high-level negotiation, and closing complex group or wholesale contracts.
  • System Proficiency:
    Advanced knowledge of brand platforms (such as Hilton systems) and enterprise sales platforms.
  • Leadership:
    Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, from General Managers to hotel owners.
