In this role, you will remove shell material from molds, separate cast parts using an oxy/acetylene torch, and prepare components for the next stage of production. - No Mandatory OT, but usually offered!
- Work safely, always – follow safety rules, operate equipment responsibly, and report hazards.
- Prep molds for action using forklifts, air guns, hammers, or a vibrating hammer to get them ready for pourcup removal.
- Blast away shell material using a Waterblast cabinet to reveal the cast beneath.
- Cut parts free with an oxy/acetylene torch – a key step in transforming raw molds into usable components.
- Grind and smooth using belt grinders or handheld air grinders to remove gates and refine castings.
- Slice with precision on a Tannewitz friction‑cutting bandsaw to remove gating or collect test material.
- Deep‑clean molds using shot‑blast and sand‑blast cabinets to reach pockets and tight spaces.
- Measure with confidence using dimensional tools during specific cutoff operations.
- Pitch in where needed with additional tasks assigned by management.
- Safety mindset – you work carefully and responsibly in an industrial environment.
- Clear communication – you can follow written and verbal instructions and collaborate with your team.
- Attention to detail – you take pride in doing things right the first time.
- Mechanical aptitude – you enjoy working with your hands and using tools.
- Independence – you can stay productive with limited supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with cutting torches and handheld power tools is a big plus.
- Work confidently with hand and power tools.
- Climb stairs, stoop, reach, and perform hand‑on tasks throughout the day.
- Lift and move molds weighing up to 35 lbs from cooling tables into blasting cabinets.
