This position manages the tracking, updates, and creation of all departmental work instructions and will support department initiatives of digitization and video documentation. This position supports both operations and process engineering departments in the review, analysis, and disposition of product and/or processes. The role ensures documentation is kept up to date and effectively communicates process requirements to manufacturing personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the tracking and management of all in-process work instructions at all revision stages, including the coordination of taking photos and videos of new tooling and processes for initial release.
- Responsible for the creation and updating of all departmental instructions in document and video format.
- Simplify complex instructions and requirements into step-by-step guides applicable for the end user.
- Verify effectiveness of new and updated work instructions and procedures.
- Navigate and maintain organizational structure and revision control of documentation system.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure documentation accuracy and usability.
- Schedule and coordinate data acquisition with other Technicians, Engineers, and Production personnel.
- Adhere to plant and department safety rules. Safely operate all equipment and tools. Identify and report safety problems.
- Audit process control procedures and processes for conformance and accuracy.
- Perform root cause analysis on processes and facilitate solutions.
- Provide general engineering support, including troubleshooting press parameters to produce quality components and address defects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, easy-to-understand written instructions using proper English grammar and usage.
- Excellent command of the English language, with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently type and edit/format documents with Windows, MS Word, and Excel
- Ability to quickly learn complex proprietary software and use various computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Camtasia, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organization skills and high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn and apply new technical information and digital systems quickly and thoroughly.
- Knowledge and use of digital cameras and related computer software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and communicate with people with diverse expertise and backgrounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Technical Communication, or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Experience developing technical documentation, work instructions, or manufacturing process documentation in a production environment is highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read reports and use computers. Ability to communicate with co-workers and customers. Ability to write, type, and operate office equipment. Ability to climb stairs, stoop and reach to access department materials. Ability to exert up to thirty-five pounds of force to move objects.
