Overview
The Nintendo Software Technology Department in Redmond, WA, is hiring an Environment Artist to create stylized model and texture assets for hard‑surface and organic subjects. The role includes working directly with art leadership, taking ownership of a specialized artistic area, and contributing to the development of new or enhanced art tools and techniques.
Responsibilities- Work directly with art leadership to help visualize and develop visual targets.
- Take ownership of a specialized artistic area of a product’s development.
- Create visual assets—illustrations, models, textures, environments, objects, and animations—for 3D and 2D visual assets.
- Support the growth of new or enhanced art development tools and techniques.
- Utilize and maintain knowledge of required commercial and proprietary Nintendo art production tools.
- Implement gameplay features aligned with game design goals.
- Apply professional expertise to review, analyze, and test products during development to ensure delivery of Nintendo’s high standard of quality and timeliness.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience, having shipped at least one game.
- Proven artistic and technical skills in basic 3D and/or 2D art production.
- Experience with game development pipelines and engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity, or a proprietary engine).
- Proficiency with commercial art production software (e.g., Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, etc.).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Capacity to respond to feedback and iterations quickly and efficiently.
- Undergraduate degree in art or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
This hybrid position is based in Redmond, WA, requiring regular on‑site work according to division guidelines. The contract position includes a base pay range of $43-$64.10 USD and eligibility for benefits through the employing agency, including medical insurance, employee assistance program, and paid sick leave.
