Position ResponsibilitiesThe Upper School Digital Arts Teacher engages students in the study of the elements of art while developing their skills across media including photography, film and animation, and graphic design. Through thoughtful instruction and a supportive classroom environment, you will foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression. You will play a vital part in advancing the school’s mission and helping students grow into the individuals they are meant to be.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Approach classroom instruction and student interactions from a Christian worldview
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and department members to plan and implement the liberal arts curriculum
- Actively ensure academic growth in every student by utilizing a variety of instructional techniques
- Build positive partnerships with parents through proactive communication
- Create a predictable and supportive classroom environment
- Increase professional knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities
- Plan and develop engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to best practices for visual arts instruction, and prepare daily and weekly lesson plans
- Follow through on routine responsibilities including grading, record keeping, attendance, and lesson planning
- Maintain knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in middle school and upper school art education
- Participate in collaborative evaluation processes with Division Head and Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Attend weekly faculty meetings
- Be involved in at least one co- or extra-curricular responsibility
- Attend school events outside regular hours including Parent/Teacher Conferences, Curriculum Night, arts performances, student socials, open houses, and professional development sessions
- Maintain a learning environment that is organized and pleasant in appearance
- Monitor halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff
- Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Build partnership with parents through proactive communication, attendance, and events such as the Evening of Artists
- Inventory curriculum and supplies and manage the art budget; requisition supplies as needed and approved
- Collaborate with Fine Arts Department to develop and coordinate plans for implementing school curriculum and policy
- Knowledge of art education differentiated instruction
- Curate and collaborate with other Bear Creek art educators for the school-wide art show
- Research art processes and projects that encourage creative thinking and problem solving across levels
- Instruct students in the digital arts of photography, film and animation, and graphic design
- Provide opportunities for students to showcase their art at upcoming art contests and community art shows
