Job Summary:
I am seeking highly motivated TAs to join my sections of ART 1220:
Light and Color II. As a TA, you'll contribute to the overall success of the course by helping to create an engaging and dynamic classroom environment, as well as providing students with outside course help during 2-3 office hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate discussions, group activities, and critiques under the guidance and supervision of the instructor
- Help set up and tear down classroom furniture and lighting
- Evaluate student weekly in-class submissions
- Hold office hours 3-4 hours per week to assist students with homework
- Make color copies of handouts for weekly classes
- Monitor and manage classroom technology, ensuring it is functioning properly during lectures.
- Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Digi Pen.
- Successful completion of ART-1100 and/or ART-1220
- Excited to work with color, gouache and a mix of freshmen students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of color theory, painting and color mixing with gouache
- Some digital painting experience is a plus!
- Previous experience as a tutor, mentor, or teaching assistant is preferred but not required.
Expected dates of employment:
May 11 – August 6, 2026
Expected number of hours per week: 5-7
Wage Range: $17.13 – $18.25 per hour, depending on number of terms worked at Digi Pen

Working Conditions:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
Digi Pen Student Employee Academic Requirements:
- Are currently a Matriculated student at Digi Pen Institute of Technology
- Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in Digi Pen Course Catalog
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Have taken and passed ART-1100 and/or ART-1220 with a B or better
Requirement Exceptions:
It is possible to still be selected for a position with Digi Pen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying! Once you have applied for – and the supervisor decides to offer you – a position, we will contact the necessary managers (Supervisor, Department Chair, and/or the Dean of Faculty) to complete and sign off on an Academic Waiver form, depending on which requirements need to be waived.
Once the Waiver is returned to us, we'll continue you through the hiring process.
