Social Studies Teacher
Eastlake High School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and committed social studies educator to join our faculty as a full-time teacher. This role involves teaching history and/or social studies courses to students in grades 9-12 and requires high expectations for academic achievement matched with high levels of support. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative team environment and is passionate about guiding young people through inquiry-based, analytic learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons.
- Cultivate a supportive, inclusive classroom culture where all students feel safe, valued, and empowered to learn.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to plan curriculum, align assessments, and support school-wide goals.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and tailor instruction to individual needs.
- Build strong, caring relationships with students, promoting both academic and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Embrace and model the Eastlake credo in daily interactions and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a History or Social Studies endorsement.
- A deep commitment to student-centered teaching, inclusion, and equity.
- Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- A passion for social studies education and meaningful student relationships.
Preferred:
- Experience working with high school students (ages 14-19).
- Familiarity with Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to a school culture where everyone feels at home.
