Instructional Assistant
This IA position is split between Emerson High School and Emerson K-12 (same campus) and will include special education support, general classroom support, and teacher support at both schools. Hours Per Day: 4.75
Shift: 9:30am-2:45pm

Emerson High School and Emerson K-12 (part of the Lake Washington Learning Community) Hourly Rate: $27.71/an hour This position is eligible for membership in the Service International Employees Union No. 925. The position will be posted internally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Thursday, July 9th, 2026. Interested employees must submit an Internal Application. To be eligible for transfer, employees must meet the posted qualifications and have been in their current position for at least six (6) months.
Qualified applicants will be contacted directly. If no internal candidates are selected for transfer, the position will be posted for one (1) week to consider both internal and external applicants. Assists teaching staff by completing instructional tasks and maintaining an orderly classroom to provide a positive learning environment. May be assigned to classroom, lunchroom, library, before or after school academic programs, or office.
At elementary level, assignment includes crossing guard and playground duties. May be assigned to an individual student or work with entire classroom.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours OR have passed an Educational Testing Service Para Pro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire. Must pass criminal background check.
