Lake Washington School District Extended Day Program Coordinator
Co-facilitate coordination of the Lake Washington School District extended day program (SNAPS) for students with Autism across all three SNAPS sites (Old Redmond Schoolhouse, Wilder Elementary, Keller Elementary). Perform functions to provide oversight to para educators and consultation to educational teams regarding programming for students identified as having autism spectrum disorder or similar learning profiles.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide behavioral assessment, intervention planning, consultation, and direct support services for preschool-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities.
- Develop individualized extended day programs for students, including writing instructional programs, collecting and analyzing data.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, and other support staff to implement and generalize evidence-based practices that promote communication, social-emotional development, adaptive skills, school readiness, and positive behavior outcomes across settings.
- Ensure behavioral programming and interventions align with individualized educational goals, applicable regulations, and best practices in early childhood special education.
- Train, supervise and monitor work of para educators working in the program, inclusive of providing coaching and feedback.
- Observe students in their classroom environment to gather relevant information and data to consult with the educational team concerning generalization of student programming.
- Model interventions and coach staff on implementation of specific strategies, methodologies and resources.
- Provide written feedback to parents during conference periods and/or IEP meetings.
- Plan and deliver parent training to support generalization of skills, both in large group and individual settings.

Required to Perform
Essential Functions:
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, methodologies, and evidence-based interventions.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder and characteristics of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
- Early childhood development and preschool learning standards.
- Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) processes and behavior intervention planning.
- Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Verbal behavior, communication development, and language acquisition strategies.
- Data collection systems, graphing, analysis, and progress monitoring.
- Social skills, play skills, adaptive behavior, and self-help skill instruction.
- Reinforcement systems, behavior reduction procedures, and antecedent-based interventions.
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation.
- Special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and procedural safeguards.
- Trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
- Classroom management strategies for early childhood settings.
- Collaborative consultation and adult learning principles for staff coaching.
- Crisis prevention, de-escalation, and behavior support practices.
- Assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supports.
- Family-centered practices and effective parent engagement strategies.
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive educational practices.
Experience &
Education:
- Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Special Education or Early Childhood Special Education AND,
- Current Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Certification
Working Environment:
Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed indoors under minimal temperature changes and a generally hazard free environment. The usual and customary methods of performing the functions of this job require the following physical demands:
Frequent reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling. Seldom climbing and balancing Seldom stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling.
Salary:
Paid per teacher salary schedule with Base contract plus additional contracts for LEAP days, and Responsibility. Additional Technology stipend and Professional Fund. See LWEA salary schedule posted on website. Full benefit package available for employees working a minimum of 630 hours during the school year.
