Instructional Designer

This role focuses on designing and delivering high-quality, learner-centered training experiences for datacenter technicians and other operational roles. You will support a learning organization dedicated to creating innovative, scalable, and effective learning solutions that empower employees and uphold operational excellence. You will collaborate with program managers, fellow instructional designers, and subject matter experts to build engaging e-learning, microlearning, and supporting materials for a wide range of technical audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with integrated learning program managers, other instructional designers, and subject matter experts to design and develop learning solutions that address specific business needs.
  • Assess the needs of target audiences through needs assessment, learner, context, and task analyses to ensure training is relevant, effective, and performance-based.
  • Design, develop, write, and maintain courseware with a primary focus on e-learning authoring tools and microlearning to create interactive and engaging content.
  • Create a variety of digital learning assets, including videos, quizzes, simulations, and other interactive elements that support hands-on learning for technical roles.
  • Develop supporting training materials such as slides, handouts, lab instructions, and lab solutions that emphasize the real-world tasks learners must perform on the job.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and external technical trainers to capture, structure, and present their expertise within various types of training programs.
  • Conduct research on technology-related topics to ensure training content is accurate, current, and aligned with evolving tools and processes.
  • Maintain awareness of external seminars, training opportunities, and literature on available programs to inform and enhance internal learning solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clients and development team members, to ensure learning programs meet stakeholder expectations and business requirements.
  • Develop and deliver learning-centered, performance-based e-learning programs tailored to multiple audiences and environments.
  • Apply strong technical communication skills to write and edit clear, concise, and accurate instructional content and documentation.
  • Use multimedia tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, and Adobe Creative Suite, to build visually compelling and effective e-learning experiences.
  • Leverage AI platforms and, where applicable, 3D modeling capabilities to enhance learning content and create innovative training experiences.
  • Demonstrate initiative and independence in researching course needs, understanding the target audience, and proposing solutions that improve learning outcomes.
  • Provide highly visible and impactful trainings by working closely with subject matter experts on new technologies and process enhancements.
  • Maintain and update a portfolio or work samples that showcase a variety of trainings, including those focused on new technologies and process improvements.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design, including needs assessment, learner analysis, context analysis, and task analysis.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Articulate tools, including Storyline and Rise, to develop e-learning solutions.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite to create and edit multimedia and video content.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with cross-functional teams, including clients, subject matter experts, and development team members.
  • 3–5 years of overall work-related experience in the field of instructional design or closely related disciplines.
  • Proven experience developing learning-centered, performance-based learning programs for diverse audiences in different environments.
  • Broad experience designing and delivering e-learning programs, including microlearning and interactive content.
  • Extensive experience in technical communications, including writing and editing clear and accurate instructional materials.
