This position is posted in accordance with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process outlined in Section 15.9 The position will be posted internally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Thursday, August 6th, 2026.

Job Summary:

The job of the Head Start Assistant Preschool Teacher is for the purpose of assisting the Head Start Teacher in providing a quality, comprehensive early childhood education experience as well as select health services to preschool children and their families; and encouraging parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting and center activities. They are directly responsible to the district and/or building administrator for the assistance of the daily preschool classroom program as well as compliance with all PSESD/Head Start requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Associate's degree (AA) or higher OR Two years of study equivalent to 72 quarter credits OR, Educational Testing Service Para Pro Assessment documenting a score of 461 or higher

Additional Head Start related requirements:
• CDA, ECE certificate, OR AA/BA/MA in any field and 25 ECE credits
• Initial health examination, including screening for TB
• First Aid and Infant/Child CPR card within 90 days of hiring and keep current
• Complete Criminal History declaration form and fingerprinting
• Obtain a Food Handler's permit within 90 days of hire and keep current.
• Must have access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage (unless employer supplies vehicle) and have a valid driver's license.
