SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Optical Metrology Engineer to collaborate with cross‑functional teams in driving the development, qualification, and implementation of advanced optical metrology equipment for AR products. In this role, you will lead the end‑to‑end process of designing and deploying metrology solutions for characterizing optical modules and systems, working closely with global partners to ensure technical requirements are met and innovative measurement capabilities are delivered to support next‑generation optical technologies.
Responsibilities- Work together with team to define, design and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualifications.
- Lead the full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications.
- Engage with suppliers, identify custom instrumentation and fixtures, drive qualification, installation, and enablement of new metrology solutions.
- Develop and enable metric definition, metrology recipes, solutions and methods to collect a wide range of optical parameters for imaging and non‑imaging systems (e.g., luminance, uniformity, color, MTF, stray light, haze, absorption, camera module metrics, LED indicator metrics).
- Establish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures and ensure testers are performing as intended and providing accurate data.
- Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics and for troubleshooting.
- BS degree in optical engineering, physics or a related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience or an advanced degree in optical engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands‑on experience in optical metrology development from concept to system validation.
- In‑depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization.
- Experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis).
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis using JMP or Python; professional level proficiency in English and Chinese. Good communication and presentation skills.
- PhD degree or equivalent experience in optical sciences/engineering or physics or related field; multiple years’ experience in applied research and/or product development of advanced optics or photonic systems; previous experience in the AR/VR field.
- Knowledge of a broad range of optics including imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, geometric optics, statistics, and polarization.
- In‑depth knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Measurement System Analysis.
- Experience in image processing and algorithm development.
