Ascendion is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Senior Systems/Embedded Controls Engineer to support a world-class global aerospace initiative. You will design, develop, and deploy advanced control systems for complex, multi-disciplinary engineering applications. This role spans system engineering, controls, and embedded development, enabling the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of systems that combine software, firmware, and hardware electronics.
You will manage the full development lifecycle from algorithm design through implementation, validation, and production deployment building robust, scalable solutions in a high-stakes, real-time environment.
Key Responsibilities- Embedded & Control Systems: Implement and test embedded software and control algorithms for real-time systems.
- Software Development: Develop and maintain high-performance software interfaces (APIs) enabling communication between control algorithms and embedded platforms.
- Systems Integration: Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate software, firmware, and hardware components into unified systems.
- Validation & Automation: Lead verification activities, including unit testing, simulation, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. Create automated workflows to increase testing efficiency and repeatability.
- Hardware Lab Work: Utilize digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools to debug system-level issues and perform root‑cause analysis on hardware/software telemetry.
- Education/Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Core Programming: Proficiency in Python is a must. Solid experience with at least one modern language (C, C++, or similar) for embedded development.
- Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of control systems, signal processing, and mechatronics.
- Tools & Environment: Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and auto‑code generation tools.
- Hands‑on experience with hardware lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Soft Skills: Proven ability to work on multi‑team, cross‑disciplinary projects and communicate technical constraints effectively.
- Exposure to FPGA/firmware development or HDL.
- Experience with HIL testing platforms (e.g., Speedgoat, dSPACE).
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization (e.g., Grafana, custom dashboards).
$1,66,400 - 1,76,800 Annually - Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
