Job Description
This position is for the lead onsite systems engineer for the Boeing 787 Flight Controls program in the Seattle area. You will interface closely with the Boeing 787 engineering team in Seattle and remotely with the Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams assigned to the Boeing 787 Flight Controls program in Phoenix, AZ. Because this role also serves as a dedicated onsite support focal for the Boeing 787 engineering teams, frequent visits to the Boeing Integrated Test Vehicle lab in Seattle will be required.
A space will be provided in the Boeing ITV lab for you to work on days that onsite support is required. In this role, you will impact the development of innovative flight control solutions that improve aircraft operational efficiency and safety, contributing to Honeywell Aerospace’s mission to deliver world‑class aerospace products and services.
- Supporting Boeing testing and troubleshooting of Honeywell equipment in the Boeing ITV lab (including Flight Control Modules, Actuator Control Electronics, Power Conditioning Modules, and Mode Control Panels)
- Supporting in‑service investigations for field issues relating to the above hardware or associated software, including retrieving fault logs/BITE history from returned units, evaluating trends, and supporting internal review boards with the Honeywell Aerospace teams in Phoenix
- Supporting Boeing engineers in completing bench configuration lockdowns for V&V run‑for‑score testing, and documenting QA records for these events to support certification and SOI audits
- Supporting Honeywell Aerospace program management and lead systems engineers in Phoenix, AZ during all aspects of the flight controls program period of performance as needed, from software and requirements development, regression analysis, test development and execution, and final certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
- Minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on flight control systems or aerospace systems engineering
- Prior experience with avionics or flight controls systems test and V&V work on an integrated test bench or platform working on target hardware and software
- Prior experience interfacing directly with customer engineering teams, presenting to customers, and leading systems engineering investigations
- Strong expertise in system design, integration, and validation of flight control hardware and software components
- Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools relevant to flight control systems, such as MATLAB/Simulink, and experience with aerospace standards like DO‑178C and DO‑254
- Experience in system requirements development, verification, and validation processes in aerospace environments
- Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience leading complex aerospace system integration projects
- Avionics or flight controls hardware and/or software background
- Experience with certification requirements/processes under DO178 and ARP
4754 - Knowledge of emerging flight control technologies and industry best practices
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a passion for innovation
