This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of critical equipment by following appropriate manual and automated procedures, maintaining calibration standards, and documenting results in a precise and compliant manner. The position operates with minimal supervision, handling moderately complex tasks, supporting both laboratory and field calibration activities, and contributing to the success of aerospace and defense customers’ tooling and calibration needs.
Responsibilities- Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) across multiple disciplines, including acoustical, chemical, dimensional, DC/low frequency, RF/microwave, fluid, mechanical, optical, thermodynamics, and time and frequency.
- Maintain and manage primary/intrinsic and secondary/working calibration standards to ensure traceability and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair precision equipment used in calibration and testing activities.
- Develop calibration procedures based on technical specifications, manufacturer documentation, and measurement requirements.
- Collect and record calibration data accurately, analyze results, and correct out‑of‑tolerance conditions and measurement errors.
- Prepare clear and detailed calibration reports and certificates in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
- Adapt equipment, fixtures, and techniques to support unique or non‑standard measurement tasks.
- Perform uncertainty evaluations and analysis to validate measurement results and support quality requirements.
- Train junior technicians in calibration methods, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent performance and quality.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and support project objectives.
- Perform general lab housekeeping and administrative duties to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall lab operations and customer needs.
- Proficiency in general mathematics, algebra, and basic statistics to support measurement analysis and uncertainty calculations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to document results, prepare reports, and interact with customers and internal teams.
- Technical writing ability to develop and update calibration procedures and documentation.
- At least 4 years of calibration experience working with inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
- Hands‑on experience with pressure testing and calibration.
- Hands‑on experience with temperature testing and calibration.
- Hands‑on experience with torque testing and calibration.
- Experience using spectrum analyzers for RF and electronic measurements.
- Experience using signal generators and RF systems for radio frequency testing.
- Practical experience working with electronic test equipment in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and apply company policies and procedures to moderately complex tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting calibration needs for aerospace and defense‑related tooling and equipment.
- Experience in RF testing and radio frequency systems.
- Familiarity with a variety of test equipment used in calibration laboratories.
- Ability to adapt equipment and techniques for unique or complex measurement tasks.
- Interest in mentoring and training junior technicians.
- Comfort working both in a calibration lab and at customer sites.
The role is based within a small, collaborative team of approximately 12 technicians in a calibration laboratory located in Redmond, WA. The technician will spend roughly 75% of their time working in the lab and about 25% of their time working directly at client sites after completing the training period. The environment involves regular use of electronic test equipment, RF systems, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and other precision instruments.
