About the Role:

Our mission is to make all of our customers' security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection and response, threat hunting, and other Falcon platform use cases. To enable this, the systems behind NG-SIEM (next-generation security information and event management) are growing to accommodate 100 PB of event and action data ingested every day, up to 10 years of retention, and dozens of millions of queries per hour across large sections of the data stored.

As the Director of Engineering for the NG-SIEM Serverless Platform team, you will be responsible for building and operating the global- and region-level systems, automation, and infrastructure that will automatically manage the security industry's largest event data store and search service - all while offering a seamless ingest and search experience to customers, at any scale.

You will support a group of teams with highly skilled software dev/devops engineers who work on the regional control plane, the cellular data plane, and on the NG-SIEM provisioning system, as well as folks responsible for the NG-SIEM-wide SRE practice, cost efficiency analytics, and capacity forecasts. You will own the technical vision and direction of our platform, roadmap delivery, as well as meeting end-to-end SLOs.

You will join a distributed team of high-ownership technical leaders who share a strong passion for our mission: to stop breaches. In this role, you will also get a chance to help on hard engineering problems that do not have well-defined solutions, and you will be expected to innovate in your space and keep our technology several steps ahead of the adversaries.

Sunnyvale, CA; or Redmond, WA.

What You'll Do:

* Uphold operational excellence for the region-level and cell-level serverless platform systems. Be a champion of secure, high-quality engineering, and drive teams towards architectures that strike right balance between availability, scalability, and cost;

* Lead by example on customer and product focus;

* Move our product mission forward: partner with multiple stakeholders to develop technical and product strategy and roadmap, and own the execution of that roadmap. Independently balance constraints around distributed system engineering, end-to-end system resilience, and hardware utilization;

* Crowd Strike is growing and you will be instrumental in the hiring, retention, mentorship, and growth of our world class engineering teams;

* Your impact is not bounded and you will be enabled to engage and collaborate with various teams and ensure our platform's success. You will work cross functionally with your peers in the product engineering organization, the platform engineering organization, as well as with field leaders in sales, customer success, and support;

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with teams across the globe. You'll also travel a few times every year to meet with your teams and peers.

What You'll Need:

* 12+ years of experience operating, architecting, designing, upholding SLOs for, and developing distributed system platform software products/releases, preferably in a hyper-scale cloud environment, across all phases of the development lifecycle;

* 8+ years of experience managing teams of 6+ individual contributors reporting to you and delivering multiple major milestones of products, as well as 3+ years of managing several teams and managers that report to you. Demonstrated track record of building strong engineering teams and management teams;

* Successful track record of scaling up large SaaS-type offerings (e.g., to 500k CPU cores), while handling unit cost optimisation and capacity forecasting;

* History of positive impact on customer experience and business results;
