Candidate Expectations

You have a “How can I help” attitude

Whether it’s helping your Planning and Community Development teammates be successful while serving the needs of building developers, contractors, engineers and private citizens; or responding to someone’s questions about their project; you bring a friendly and responsive attitude. You provide timely communication on the phone, in person and through email.

You are organized and keep track of details, deadlines and paperwork

But you can also pivot and change directions even with little information. You can keep projects moving but don’t get ruffled if something needs to change at the last minute.

You are great at research and staying up to date with a changing field

Building codes are being updated regularly and you know it’s vital to stay current with changing information.

You are good at communicating complex ideas and information in a way people can understand

Interpreting codes and standards is challenging and can be frustrating for people to navigate. But you have a gift for walking someone through the process with empathy and helping them understand how the codes and regulations apply to their project.
