As a Mechanical Engineer at our Starlink Production facility in Redmond, Washington, you will oversee the safety, integrity, and efficiency of all mechanical systems across the plant. Your responsibilities include troubleshooting, evaluating, and improving HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, cryogenics, and other infrastructure systems. You will also design upgrades, support sustainability initiatives, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, all while maintaining continuous improvement standards.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering support for the design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of all mechanical components and systems.
- Coordinate downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and production teams to minimize disruptions.
- Lead mechanical system improvement projects, applying design change requests and advanced detection methods.
- Develop maintenance protocols, service schedules, and coordinate material procurement.
- Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, optimize, and maintain mechanical systems.
- Provide mechanical engineering support to facility technicians troubleshooting electrical equipment and controllers.
- Oversee equipment installation, operation, and maintenance to meet specified parameters.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of professional experience in the design and maintenance of industrial HVAC/plumbing systems.
- 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining industrial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Proven track record in clean‑room design and maintenance.
- Proficiency in implementing maintenance solutions with minimal operational impact.
- Ability to assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair efforts effectively.
- Capacity to thrive in high‑concentration, high‑stress environments; flexibility to work extended hours.
- Attention to detail and proactive execution of preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit at a beginner to intermediate skill level.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and the International Building Code.
- Experience with system design, sizing, specification, and installation, especially HVAC chillers, pumps, boilers, air handlers, and HEPA filtration systems.
- In‑depth understanding of HVAC operations, particularly chilled water plants using air‑cooled chillers.
- Experience with advanced data/monitoring systems like Schneider Building Management Systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor management.
- Physical ability to perform hands‑on work in varied environments (heat, cold, rain, tight quarters).
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel occasionally for project needs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
Pay Range:
- Level 1: $100,000 – $117,500
- Level 2: $115,000 – $140,000
Base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Additional compensation may include long‑term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, paid vacation (3 weeks), paid holidays (10+), paid sick time in compliance with Washington State law, and company shuttles from select Seattle locations to the Redmond office Monday to Friday.
