X is developing Starlink, a low-latency broadband internet system via low Earth orbit satellites. This Test Specialist role focuses on enabling rapid development through test and infrastructure support, including designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions for integration testing, optical test systems, and automated hardware test environments.
- Ensure optical test systems and work areas are operating properly and troubleshoot issues
- Perform first-level triage of test failures by reading and interpreting test logs and telemetry data
- Build and validate automated hardware test systems for production environments
- Fabricate and repair cable harnesses including crimping, soldering, and assembling connectors
- Design and implement assembly fixtures and shop aids to improve manufacturing and test processes
- Identify, develop, and provide training to production technicians on new or updated test processes
- Create and support equipment maintenance and calibration schedules
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of professional hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment, OR a bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or science
- Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed schematics, engineering drawings, and instructions
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds unassisted, and perform repetitive assembly operations
- Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed on 2nd shift (typical start 4 PM)
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field
- Proficiency with standard computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CAD software (NX, Team Center)
- Experience with production and environmental testing (thermal, thermal vacuum, HASS) for electronic assemblies
- Experience working with and administering a Linux environment
- Basic understanding of networking including VLANs, name spaces, and routing
- Programming experience in Python or C++
- Experience developing and deploying software used in real-world projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Strong ability to learn quickly, adapt, and innovate in a fast‑paced environment
Pay range:
Level 1: $34.00–$40.00/hour;
Level 2: $38.00–$45.00/hour;
Level 3: $42.00–$51.00/hour. Base salary determined on case-by-case basis.
