Job Schedule9/80:
Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours – and have every other Friday off.
We are seeking a highly hands‑on Tooling Engineer to support electronic production and test operations. This is not a desk‑only role; the ideal candidate thrives on the production floor, troubleshooting mechanical and electronic problems in real time and keeping production and test equipment running smoothly.
Essential Functions- Work hands‑on in a high‑reliability production or test environment to design, support, maintain, and troubleshoot production power electronics and test equipment from board level through end‑item test equipment; document procedures and define tooling specifications.
- Utilize standard engineering software platforms to develop electrical schematics and drawings, taking designs from concept through release and document control.
- Collaborate with engineering staff to estimate tooling or hardware costs and interface with internal teams to resolve production test issues.
- Procure materials and hardware necessary to fabricate tooling, ranging from simple fasteners to exotic materials.
- Perform design reviews and tool proofs to verify correct form, fit, and function.
- Lead special improvement projects focused on manufacturing, assembly, or testing.
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum four (4) years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and minimum two (2) years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
- Extensive hands‑on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electronic production/test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve urgent equipment issues on the production floor independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve technical problems in a team environment.
- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Modern programming experience (LabVIEW, C#, JavaScript) is a major plus.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred).
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- PTC Creo and Unigraphics NX modeling and drafting experience.
- Welding, machining, drafting, or electrical fabrication experience.
- Pneumatic or hydraulic testing experience.
Salary range: $79,000 – $147,000 for the State of Washington (final offer may vary by experience and location). Benefits include health and disability insurance, a 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, an Employee Assistance Program, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company‑paid holidays. Programs may vary by hire date, schedule type, and collective bargaining agreements.
