Key Responsibilities- Procurement & Supplier Management — Source, order, track, and expedite custom parts across multiple suppliers, ensuring accuracy against CAD drawings and 3D
- Technical Coordination — Resolve technical questions from suppliers related to part specifications, tolerances, and materials; serve as the liaison between engineering and the supply base
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) — Participate in DFM conversations with engineering and suppliers to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and aligned with supplier capabilities
- Delivery Risk Management — Proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks; elevate and expedite critical-path components to protect project timelines
- Process Automation & Efficiency — Leverage AI tools, scripts, and automation to and continuously improve workflows
- Experience in technical procurement, supply chain coordination, or purchasing of custom/machined parts
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and 3D models (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (CNC, sheet metal, injection molding, etc.) and
- Strong communication skills for managing supplier relationships and cross-functional technical discussions
- Highly organized with proven ability to track multiple orders and timelines simultaneously
- Comfort with or enthusiasm for AI tools, scripting (e.g., Python, Excel macros), and workflow automation
- Self-directed and curious; thrives in fast-paced lab environments where needs aren't always formally defined — proactively observes operations, identifies gaps, and drives improvements without waiting for direction
- Background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial technology
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement platforms
- Track record of implementing process improvements or automation in a procurement or operations environment
