Role: Hardware Lab Test Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA
Type: Contract
Duration: 6+ Months

Description of Services

Supplier shall deliver the following services to Microsoft:

  • Test execution for Windows Server releases (RS2, RS3, and beyond), Deduplication, and MAS scenarios, including test planning, execution, and storage setup.
  • Configuration of test environments such as VM setups, workload execution for SharePoint, IW, and DPM Tenet backup Dedup scenarios.
  • Support for reliability and stress runs at scale for MAS and other scenarios.
  • Functional and stress run support for Dedup, Data Management, and Work‑Folders.
  • Performance, long‑haul, and scalability runs requiring specialized hardware configurations for Dedup.
  • Coordination of hardware failures and replacements within the team – including Dedup Selfhost support.
  • Performance, scale, long‑haul, and workload validations for Azure Storage (Azure Files).
  • Work‑Folders and Sync test planning and execution across multiple scenarios and environments, including local lab runs and high‑touch device support.
  • Reimaging and reconfiguring setups for use with different device variations.
Responsibilities

Responsible for iterative design and code generation, test case development, and quality assurance testing. Perform analytical process steps and provide feedback to ensure continuous process improvement. Typical activities include collecting and analyzing quality data, investigating nonconformance to determine permanent resolution, coordinating and conducting internal quality audits, identifying, analyzing, and resolving non‑conformance, and providing technical expertise in the analysis, development, and implementation of new and revised systems and instructional methods.

Qualifications
  • Hardware experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Debugging skills, including running stress and reliability tests using tools such as indbg, kd, and ntsd.
  • Storage validation skills, including stress and reliability validation and scripting knowledge (Power Shell, JavaScript, batch scripting).
