Hardware Safety & Compliance ensures Amazon Leo customer terminals meet rigorous safety standards throughout their lifecycle. The team drives safety‑by‑design principles, establishes safety frameworks, and coordinates cross‑functional efforts across Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Product Management. We own end‑to‑end safety qualification programs, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis—ensuring our systems are safe and ready for global deployment while maintaining Amazon’s high standards for customer safety.

• Perform safety assessments such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), System Safety Assessments (PSSAs and SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs), Single Fault Analysis, and testing.
• Conduct safety‑related tests and coach lab engineers to expand capabilities.
• Analyze electrical schematics for vulnerabilities, perform Thermal/Power Model Analysis for Total Dissipated Power (TDP), and identify mitigations to assure product safety.
• Drive actions and resolutions with Product Design teams (mechanical, electrical, legal & reliability) to deliver on Amazon’s product safety goals.
• Perform probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs) on products under development and in the field to predict failure mechanisms.
• Incorporate lessons learned into product knowledge bases and roadmap programs.
• Champion the cause of safety and develop tools and processes to support Safety as needed.
• Serve as a safety champion, mentor, and coach while interfacing with Product Designers, Electrical Engineers, Reliability Engineers, external suppliers, and partners.

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
• Experience in data analytics & statistical analysis, including Weibull, exponential, Poisson, lifetime analysis, accelerated factor studies, reliability block diagrams, fault tree testing, and warranty analysis.

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
• Experience with the project management of technical projects.
• Experience with radio communications, antenna, Wi‑Fi, modems, and other communication protocols.

Base salary range for this position:
USA, WA, Bellevue – $ – $ USD annually
USA, WA, Redmond – $ – $ USD annually
