Job Overview
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As a Sr. Hardware Design Engineer, you will engage with a world‑class cross‑disciplinary team to design innovative solutions, work closely with colleagues throughout Amazon Leo to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and optimization, and succeed within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
Aday in the life
You will regularly interact with other engineers to realize microwave hardware designs that will fly in space. This requires the ability to work well with others in a highly cross‑functional organization to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation and test.
Key job responsibilities- Decompose system level requirements into realizable hardware requirements.
- Design and develop a solution that meets these requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize electrical hardware for use in space.
- Simulate and optimize EE circuits, perform schematic capture, and oversee layout.
- Build up test bench for design verification.
- Evaluate and optimize design in the lab to demonstrate design meets system requirements.
- Work with RF system, power, software, mechanical, thermal, reliability, and compliance teams to ensure solution integrates with overall platform requirements.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 7+ years of engineering experience.
- 5+ years of industry experience in PCBA design.
- 5+ years of experience using schematic tools (Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer).
- 3+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi‑meter.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience with the project management of technical projects.
- Experience with PCB layout tools.
- 3+ years of experience in high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc.).
