Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key Job Responsibilities- Identify and analyze requirements, conceive and develop trade studies on mechanism design options.
- Create and iterate detailed CAD models of design options – mechanism geometry, materials/lubrication selections, assembly processes and test methods.
- Analyze (classical/FEA) all load conditions (static, dynamic, thermal, fatigue) for compliance.
- Develop test plans throughout development with variable isolation DOEs and statistical analysis for long term reliability assessments as needed.
- Define qualification plans and identify acceptance testing methods at volume production.
- Facilitate cost trades on multiple parallel configurations for cost/manufacturability vs design uncertainty.
- Produce complete design packages – detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, assembly documentation.
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years experience working in an aerospace, defense or automotive design/manufacturing environment in a Lead Engineering role.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Master's degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficient in developing design models and drawings for production and analysis via Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management tools for configuration management.
- Experience providing input and leadership to cross‑functional teams to introduce new products to production.
- Experience designing and qualifying space mechanisms, specifically those driven by stepper motors, BLDC motors, or springs, and associated sensors to ensure appropriate performance.
- Experience in materials selection related to wear performance in space applications.
- Experience using NX, Teamcenter, and Ansys for CAD.
The base salary range for this position is USD – annually in Redmond, WA, USA. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
