Job Description

Join Our Team as a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) to support fish passage restoration projects. We’re looking for a skilled CESCL to monitor stormwater and manage environmental compliance for fish passage restoration projects near Bellingham, WA. You will collaborate with construction teams to facilitate these a project to repair culvert barriers for migrating fish beneath state highways. This is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate your professional growth, with the potential to transition into various roles within the company as individual FHEP projects conclude.

Conduct tree inventories.

Conduct vegetation surveys.

Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Assist in wetland delineation, fish exclusion and identification.

Contribute to the development of plans and reports.

You’ll thrive here if you have

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Botany, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.

0-5 years of professional experience, making this a great opportunity for motivated entry-level candidates.

Background in stormwater management, geology, engineering, biology, or a related discipline, providing a strong foundation for a wide range of environmental responsibilities.

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain or shine, and on uneven terrain, reflecting a hands‑on approach to fieldwork.

A strong enthusiasm for fieldwork, with the majority of the role focused on conducting environmental assessments and monitoring in the field.

Availability for occasional night and weekend shifts, particularly during August and September

Successful candidates will thrive as key members of a multidisciplinary team focused on environmental documentation, permitting, and construction monitoring for major transportation and fish barrier projects in the Bellingham area.

Develop detailed technical reports and plans that are crucial for permitting processes and ensuring construction compliance, directly contributing to the success of high-impact projects.

Demonstrate expertise in creating clear and effective figures, charts, and tables using tools such as MS Excel, Bluebeam, GIS, and other relevant platforms to communicate technical information with precision.

Preferred (but not required):
Experience in wetland delineation, tree and stream assessments, and construction monitoring.

While not mandatory, experience in mentoring team members and managing budgets is a valuable asset, showcasing leadership and resource management skills.

Proficient in using a variety of field equipment to collect precise and reliable data, demonstrating hands‑on expertise.

While not required, experience in environmental science, particularly in contaminated soil and groundwater, is a plus and adds valuable perspective to the role.

Ability to work independently while also excelling in a collaborative team environment.

Positive, adaptable, and team‑oriented approach to work.

Valid driver’s license required, as this position may involve travel to multiple project sites, ensuring flexibility and accessibility.
