Incident Business Management Specialist; Fire

Summary

This position serves as a member of the fire, fuels, and aviation programs staff. It acts as a regional expert in incident business management functions pertaining to wildland fire and all hazard incidents.

• Duties are at the full performance GS-09 grade level.
• Tracks policy and guideline developments in incident (such as wildland fire, hurricane, flood, and/or earthquake recovery) business and related functions.
• Plans new methods and procedures designed to improve operations and administrative effectiveness within the staff.
• Assists with developing incident business‑related training materials.
• Participates in formal and informal training opportunities to assist with the presentation of incident business‑related materials.
• Assists in the resolution of incident (such as wildland fire, hurricane, flood, and/or earthquake recovery) business management billing and payment issues.
• Communicates incident business management information among internal contacts.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.

• As a condition of employment, a 1‑year probationary period will be required during which the agency evaluates fitness and the continuation of employment toward the public interest.

Position(s) will be located at one of the Region 4 Forest Office locations listed above or at another Forest Office within the Region 4 Great Basin area. Final determination of the duty station will be made by the selecting official at the time of the job offer. The position is not eligible for telework but may be eligible for flexible work arrangements.
