Uni Sea is looking for a detail-oriented HR Generalist, whose primary focus will be assisting with employee travel, to join our HR Team!

The HR Generalist - Travel position will provide superior employee support for travel related services including flight bookings, travel service options, hotel reservations, and providing insight and strategies to Uni Sea employees needing assistance with business and personal travel arrangements. This position will also support both Redmond and Dutch Harbor Human Resources teams with hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and data management during non-peak travel periods.

This position will require travel to Anchorage, Alaska and/or Dutch Harbor, Alaska as necessary during peak employee travel periods. Travel to Dutch Harbor, Alaska will usually be coordinated with advance notice, and the duration of the trip may be for several weeks at a time. Travel to Anchorage, Alaska will often be coordinated with advance notice, but impromptu, urgent trips based on weather/travel delays may still occur.

Duties
  • Facilitate travel arrangements for all Alaska-based employees to include business, personal, and medical travel including flights, hotels and land-based transportation. Act as the primary travel coordinator for Processors traveling to Dutch Harbor, returning home at the end of the season as well as booking roundtrip flights. Oversee Processor travel arrangements being booked by other members of the HR Team to ensure coordination, clear communication and appropriate tracking.

    Facilitate vacation, medical and business travel requests for non-Processors.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to traveling employees. Resolve flight issues that may arise including delays, cancellations and other airline issues that affect travelers. De-escalate normal travel-related frustrations that can occur by being a problem-solver and reassuring travelers that Uni Sea will take care of them.
  • Build and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with representatives from the travel agency, airlines, airports and hotels.
  • Work at Anchorage airport during peak travel periods and when there are flight delays to track each passenger and ensure they know where to go and what to do. Clearly act as visible Uni Sea representative. Assist employees at Sea Tac airport, as needed, during travel delays.
  • Develop and implement strategies for assisting employees stranded at the Anchorage airport during weather and flight delays, including managing signage, providing food/meal vouchers, comfort items, etc. Act as a key point of contact for travel helpers during weather delay events to ensure they are providing helpful assistance. Coordinate and book charter flights as directed by HR leadership.
  • Work with Production Administrative Specialists and HR to accurately maintain the travel manifest and be able to provide up to date information to Production Management and other departments as needed. Enter and record all travel transactions in the dedicated database, and ensure tracking and reporting is up to date and accurate.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring processes for Processors and other positions as assigned. Represent Uni Sea at job fairs and other hiring events as required.
  • Assist with the onboarding process of new workers and offboarding processes for departing employees.
  • Assist with advising and counseling employees and managers on employee relations issues and human resources policies and practices. Listen to concerns; take prompt, necessary and appropriate action as necessary. Support investigations as directed including interviewing and documenting conversations with appropriate parties.
  • Support Redmond and Dutch Harbor HR teams with data entry and processing related to hiring, transfers and terminating employees in the HRIS and HR employee files.
  • Support the HR team by providing backup during vacations and vacancies and assist with special events and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Associates degree or equivalent knowledge and work experience is required.
  • Some college courses in Human Resources or business, HR certification, training or internship are strongly desired.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in travel coordination, HR and/or recruiting roles. Previous experience coordinating travel to Alaska or previous seafood industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills. Our “customers” are our employees and may require help over email, phone calls, or in person.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Tagalog, desired but not required.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to identify inaccuracies and typos in data and maintain accurate records and spreadsheets.
  • Must have strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, One Drive).
  • Must be able to always maintain confidential employee information.
