Overview

Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Leo Commerce team is seeking engineers who are interested in building the next generation Commerce platform that is data driven, highly scalable, fully automated and always available.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand business needs, design & develop critical data-driven systems, and provide solutions to enable better decision making
  • Work on initiatives building e-Commerce functions on AWS infrastructure and help implement best practices for software development.
  • Help engineers and build solutions which are required for provisioning and operating an Internet service providers.
  • Define and track key metrics and performance indicators to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement across Leo Commerce
  • Build and maintain data infrastructure in collaboration with DEs, focusing on improving data quality and availability
  • Execute analytical approaches to uncover new insights and share recommendations that improve productivity
  • Design and build robust, self-service reporting solutions that scale across the organization
  • Write complex, performant SQL queries and develop efficient data pipelines to support both recurring and ad-hoc analytical needs
  • Communicate analytical findings and methodology to diverse stakeholders through clear documentation and presentations
  • Lead technical initiatives and actively share knowledge with team members, supporting analytics best practices
  • Maintain awareness of AI/ML advancements (especially around LLMs and GenAI) and propose new technologies for team consideration

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the data-driven software applications and services for an advanced global communications service? This role is for a Data Engineer who will design, build, and maintain components and services of Leo's Customer Commerce Services and interact with the core Leo Network.

About the team

Our team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for communications services; including identity and account management, subscriber management services, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer and technical support tools, offer management tools, and customer metrics and analytics.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes experience
  • 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using OLAP technologies experience
  • 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling experience
  • 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL experience
  • 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using Oracle experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Fire Hose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
