As a Senior Security Engineer on the Amazon Leo Incident Response team, you will work tactically with both internal and external stakeholders to respond to and root cause security issues and solve them at massive scale. You will think strategically to develop and implement changes that drive automation, scalability, and continuous progress for the organization.

• Supply oversight of in-flight security issues.
• Triage new incoming issues to determine their risk level and prioritize remediation in conjunction with impacted builder teams.
• Communicate issue status to technical and non‑technical audiences, up to and including the Chief Information Security Officer.
• Escalate issues to senior Amazon Leo leadership when necessary to ensure customer impact is addressed promptly.
• Explore, build, and improve tooling to streamline operations for yourself and engineers worldwide.

• Participate in efforts that promote security across the company and build strong relationships with teams.
• Demonstrate excellent multitasking and remain productive amid interruptions.
• Develop pragmatic solutions that meet business requirements while managing acceptable risk.
• Assist with recruiting activities and administrative tasks.
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge throughout the team and across Amazon.
• Fulfill regular on‑call responsibilities.

Morning: take handover from the previous shift and assume ownership of current in‑flight security issues. You will often need to learn new product areas on the go.

During the shift: engage stakeholders—including builder teams, Amazon Leo leadership, Legal, and impacted team leaders—to prioritize and resolve issues. New issues are automatically assigned based on workload.

Evening: document all tracked issues for handover to the relieving site.

Downtime will be available for strategic projects that improve delivery quality or raise Amazon Leo’s security bar at scale.

• 4+ years of experience troubleshooting system issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks using command‑line tools.
• 5+ years of experience identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans.
• 4+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.

• Experience with threat modeling or equivalent risk identification techniques.
• Experience with security in service‑oriented architectures/microservices and web services.

Base salary: USA, VA, Arlington – $ - $ USD annually. USA, WA, Redmond – $ - $ USD annually.

Salary includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and other insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
