Windows Server Engineer
- [Remote] Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems across physical and virtual servers.
- [Remote] Administer core Windows services and roles (Active Directory integration, DNS client settings, DHCP client settings, RDP/WinRM, time sync, Group Policy).
- [Remote] Manage local and domain-based access (users/groups), least-privilege administration, and privileged access processes in alignment with security policies.
- [Remote] Patch and update OS components (Windows Update/WSUS/SCCM or equivalent); plan and execute maintenance windows with minimal disruption.
- [Remote] Monitor system health and performance (CPU, memory, disk, event logs, services) and remediate performance issues.
- [Remote] Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, including event log analysis, service recovery, and root-cause analysis; drive corrective actions.
- [Remote] Manage storage at the OS layer (volumes, partitions, NTFS, mount points) and capacity management for managed servers.
- [Hybrid] Integrate servers with storage and network services (SMB/NFS client usage where applicable, iSCSI initiator/MPIO, VLAN/DNS dependencies) and validate end-to-end connectivity.
- [Remote] Implement configuration management and automation (Power Shell/DSC and orchestration tooling) to standardize builds and reduce manual effort.
- [Remote] Harden systems and remediate vulnerabilities (CIS/Microsoft security baselines as applicable); support security scanning, audit evidence, and compliance requirements.
- [On-site] Rack, cable, and label servers (power, network, and management connections) per data center standards; coordinate port assignments with network teams.
- [Hybrid] Perform initial physical/remote validation after install (console access, firmware/BIOS checks as applicable, NIC link verification) and hand off to operations.
- [Hybrid] Perform hardware/console-level troubleshooting and coordinate break/fix with data center or vendor teams when remote remediation is not possible.
- [Remote] Maintain documentation: build standards, runbooks, diagrams, and CMDB/inventory updates.
- [Remote] Collaborate with application, SRE/operations, network, and security teams to define requirements and support deployments.
