Position Overview

The Director of Information Technology will be responsible for developing and executing the company's IT strategy while overseeing day‑to‑day technology operations. This individual will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders, ensuring that technology investments support both current business needs and long‑term organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business objectives and future growth plans.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify technology needs and implement scalable solutions.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing IT team, including internal resources and external service providers.
  • Establish IT governance, policies, and procedures to support operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization's technology landscape.
Infrastructure & Operations
  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure, including cloud environments, networking, endpoint management, and collaboration technologies.
  • Ensure high availability, business continuity, disaster recovery readiness, and overall system reliability.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and managed service providers.
  • Lead end‑user support services and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction across the organization.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies that improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Lead information security initiatives, including risk management, vulnerability assessments, incident response, and security awareness programs.
  • Ensure IT systems and processes comply with applicable regulatory, privacy, and industry standards.
  • Oversee identity and access management, data governance, and information protection programs.
  • Partner with Quality, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to support validated systems and audit readiness.
Business Applications & Digital Enablement
  • Oversee the implementation, integration, and support of enterprise business applications.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to optimize systems supporting research, development, quality, and corporate operations.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives that improve productivity, collaboration, and data integrity.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and data management capabilities that enable informed decision‑making.
  • Develop and manage the annual IT budget and technology roadmap.
  • Evaluate technology investments and vendor solutions to ensure cost‑effective utilization of resources.
  • Lead strategic planning related to technology infrastructure, staffing, and future growth requirements.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for IT operations and service delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 4 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Experience with in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and validated technology environments.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies, enterprise infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and modern IT operations.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling IT organizations in growth‑stage environments.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting clinical‑stage or commercial life sciences organizations.
  • Familiarity with GxP environments, computer system validation methodologies, and regulated business processes.
  • Knowledge of laboratory, quality, clinical, or enterprise business systems commonly used within life sciences organizations.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL, or similar credentials.
