Overview
Redmond, WA — Sourcing Manager, Capital Equipment & Construction (Starlink) s role supports construction projects and capital purchases for the construction and facilities organizations, working with internal stakeholders to optimize value, cost, quality, and delivery from suppliers.
Responsibilities- Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process that ensures a successful project execution cycle
- Develop and execute equipment and services procurement strategies focused on construction projects
- Perform market analysis to determine should-costs and achieve the best purchasing deals for equipment and services across diverse projects
- Create and negotiate contract documents in collaboration with the legal department
- Track and report projected and actual spend, assess budgetary risk, and provide clear budgetary analysis to enable timely management decisions
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring clear communication, adherence to contracts, and resolution of performance or delivery issues
- Present value propositions to SpaceX management, including contract awards, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues
- Identify and execute cost reduction projects, coordinating with stakeholders and providing updates
- Perform quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvements, and performance for assigned categories
- Create and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base
- Lead and execute requests for proposals to fulfill requirements for defined categories or internal areas
- Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories
- Develop and lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree in one or more of the following areas:
Engineering, Purchasing, Contract negotiation, Operations or supply chain management, Master production scheduling, Construction, facilities, or industrial plant management
- Strong technical background to speak the language of engineers and strong business background to deal with contracts and negotiations
- Familiarity or experience in purchasing or procurement
- Experience in industrial engineering, construction management, and/or facilities management
- Strong budget tracking and cost analytical skills
- Extensive project management and organizational skills
- Experience managing large-scale industrial and commercial construction projects
- Strong contract negotiation and document management skills
- Problem-solving skills with a bias for speed; quick learner with strong prioritization
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Analytical and organizational skills with proficiency in current technologies (e.g., MS Office, SQL, PowerBI)
- Highest degree of integrity and adaptability in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours — up to 20% travel time; may include international travel
- Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
- This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being onsite
Pay Range:
Level 3: $ - $
Your actual level and base salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Base salary is part of a broader total rewards package including stock or long-term cash incentives, discretionary bonuses, and stock purchase plans, plus comprehensive health coverage, retirement and other benefits. SpaceX provides paid time off and holidays, plus per-state sick time compliance. Company shuttles are offered for certain Seattle-to-Redmond routes.
