Job : | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC
LEO is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers — from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are looking for talented technicians to help drive full-scale production of the Kuiper satellites. The success of Kuiper depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of the products that you deliver. If you seek a fast-paced, dynamic environment; if you thrive on solving difficult problems where resolutions have high impact; and if you love the challenge of building something from scratch, then this role will be an ideal next career step.
To be successful, you need to be highly motivated and detail-oriented while demonstrating the highest standards of execution.
The Functional Planner Technician serves as a senior-level technical resource responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting production workflow across the manufacturing floor. This role bridges the gap between frontline technicians and engineering/supervisory teams by ensuring work orders, build sequences, and resource allocations are executed accurately and on schedule.
- Plan and sequence daily production work orders in alignment with build priorities and capacity targets
- Coordinate with supervisors, leads, and engineers to resolve scheduling conflicts, material shortages, and technical blockers
- Monitor floor status and adjust plans in real time to maintain throughput and meet output goals
- Track and communicate WIP (Work in Progress) status, flagging delays or quality holds to the appropriate stakeholders
- Support NC (Non-Conformance) tracking by ensuring affected units are properly dispositioned and rework is scheduled efficiently
- Maintain accurate records in production systems (e.g., SFC, Smartsheet, or equivalent tools)
- Identify and elevate systemic planning issues, recurring bottlenecks, or process gaps to engineering and supervision
- Provide guidance and mentorship to lower-tier technicians on planning processes and documentation standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing floor-level insight to process optimization efforts
- Ensure compliance with all work instructions, safety protocols, and quality standards
- Demonstrated proficiency in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing coordination
- Strong understanding of build processes, work order management, and quality systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, BOMs, and work instructions
- Proficient in production tracking tools and data entry systems
- Strong communication skills — able to clearly relay status, issues, and priorities across teams
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing production demands
- Experience mentoring or supporting technician development preferred
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma)
- Proficiency with production management or MES systems (e.g., SFC, SAP, Smartsheet, or similar)
- Experience with Non-Conformance (NC) tracking, disposition processes, and quality management systems
- Ability to analyze production data and generate actionable reports or metrics
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, quality, and operations teams
- Experience supporting or leading process improvement initiatives on a high-volume production floor
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities
- Background in satellite, hardware, or complex electromechanical assembly preferred
