Job Overview

Minimum Pay: $35 / hour

Work Schedule:

3 x 12 hour shifts - 7pm-7am, rotating weekends

Sign on Bonus: $15,000

Responsibilities
  • Administers medications and treatments safely and effectively.
  • Develops and implements nursing care plans.
  • Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date medical records.
  • Sets patient‑centered goals and prioritizes patient needs.
  • Creates detailed care plans tailored to individual patient requirements. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Regularly evaluates and adjusts care plans based on patient progress.
  • Assesses patient health to identify needs and changes.
  • Adheres to ethical and legal standards to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
  • Educates patients about health management and preventive care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Administers all types of medications correctly per age group for all populations served according to policy.
  • Demonstrates proficient technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used on the unit.
  • Performs daily rotational task assignment as directed.
  • Supervises Nursing Assistants in basic nursing functions and demonstrates proper patient ambulation and transfers. Checks, turns, and repositions bedfast and/or incontinent patients every two hours.
  • Serves as a preceptor as necessary.
  • Communication/Collaboration.
  • Gathers data/assesses/reassesses all populations served and performs primary assessment of all newly admitted or transferred patients and completes hard copy care plans for each chart.
  • Documents and communicates patient data clearly and concisely, initiates and implements phone and verbal physician orders promptly and accurately, collaborates with the healthcare team and follows HIPAA and confidentiality policy.
  • Collaborates on Care Plan input.
  • Establishes priorities in planning, organizing, and implementing patient care, taking into consideration psychosocial, cultural, and circumstantial situations. Collaborates with RNs to evaluate responses to nursing interventions.
  • Recognizes emergency codes, infection control, life safety, fire plan, age‑specific safety concerns, proper body mechanics and ergonomics. Implements measures, supervises staff during events.
  • Understands the Computerized Physician Order Entry Process and uses the electronic medical record for retrieving patient information.
  • Monitors the electronic medical record for new physician orders and diagnostic results.
  • Provides education to patients and families from admission through discharge. Includes medication, tests, procedures, disease process, and discharge instructions. Documents the education provided and patient responses.
  • Thorough understanding of hospital policies, procedures, and legal aspects of acute care nursing.
