Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.
- Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room.
- Initiates the incident reporting mechanisms when indicated.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating change, reporting information or concerns.
- Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations.
- Assists with the orientation of new employees and assumes unit responsibility when delegated by the nursing manager or director.
- Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role. Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient and updates preference cards as needed.
- Performs surgical counts per policy and prepares operating room setup.
- Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data, and knows the implied significance of each.
- Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately.
- Assures patients' right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times.

- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills [Required]
- Previous experience and working knowledge of computerized documentation [Required]
- Ability to stand for long periods of time [Required]
- Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills and strong anticipatory skills [Required]
- Manual dexterity, lifting, pulling, pushing of equipment, heavy instrument sets, and patients [Required]
- Basic RN Nursing skills [Required]
- Circulating skills [Required]
- Scrub skills [Required]
- Fluent in English language, speaking, reading, writing [Required]
- Ability to prepare surgical suites with appropriate instruments, resources, and supplies based on surgeon preference cards [Required]
- Knowledge of instruments, supplies, and equipment utilized for surgical procedures [Required]
- Understanding of the procedures being performed and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon [Required]
- Strong physician/surgeon relationship skills and team mentality [Required]
- Up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements [Required]
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
- Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements [Required]
- Cognitive, psychomotor, and affective behaviors that demonstrate accountability and responsibility for identifying and meeting the needs of peri-operative patients [Required]
